Pre Load Screen Crashes (Solved)

When I click on the icon for Sims2 from my Start Menu, BEFORE the game even begins to load, the start screen generates and error and closes.  I've looked (and I realize I'm not good at searching, my apologies) and can find no answers to this.  It's got to be something simple, but I am having NO luck.  I CAN still load my game, I just have to be super fast about hitting that start button.  ANY help would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you in advance.

By start screen, do you mean the launcher? Because if that's the case a lot of people have had that problem and have fixed it by getting a no CD crack. There's a help article on MTS which should help you fix the problem here.

Or you could just bypass the launcher by starting the game from the direct .exe which you'll find in the programs directory of your latest EP.

I'm just curious. Was it working fine until very, very recently, then, all of a sudden, it started to throw up these errors and crashes?

Yes!  The launcher is what's crashing.  I had no idea what to call it.  Thank you!  Yes isbrealiomcalfe it did start more recently, there was no issue before.  Like I said, there's a work around, I can hit the button fast, but I'm the type that likes to know why stuff does what it does.  Thank you all! <3

I have this problem too. There's nothing that can be done as far as I can tell, just hit the button as quickly as possible or bypass the launcher. I think it might be all the advertisements that suddenly popped up on it.

My guess was the fact that it's no longer advertising Sims 3 and has moved on to Sims 4 stuff recently. It's trying to show a full page in a space that should have a simple link and a couple of pictures.

The easiest is to bypass the launcher.

Right-click your current launching icon, and choose "open file location". This is the quickest way to open the folder with the correct files.  
You'll also find the "Sims2" or "Sims2EP[1-9]" Program/EXE file there. If you have Deluxe or some other collection pack as your latest, it might have a different name, but it will start with "Sims2". Right-click and choose "make shortcut".

I chose the option of making a shortcut directly from the .exe file in my program files.  It's working great!  Thank you all for your help!  I love you all! <3
