Title: 2010.07 - Back to Basics!
Post by: Nymphy on July 01, 2010, 02:48:18 AM
(http://i50.tinypic.com/oani3m.jpg)

After only a few weeks in the pollls, Back to Basics is the chosen champion! A third of everyone who voted in the poll went for this theme, so you wanted it, and you got it goslings. Ready your paintbrushes for your mission ahead.

Hijack those basegame meshes and give them new shoes, new colours, new textures! This theme is for revamping the base game meshes. Be creative with it, we have already had a default theme and that is not the main focus of this month. You can work on the basegame clothes, hair, objects..everything goes. Basegame only please, as that is the purpose of this theme as that is accessible to all users.

This also includes objects, not only Bodyshop stuff!

Yay, I'm glad this is the theme. I think this could be something really good with all the talent here :)

I'm happy for this theme!  Several of the base game meshes can be salvaged, and I'm looking forward to seeing what people come up with.   :D

I didn't vote for this theme, and I need more Maxis recolors like a hole in the head, but I'm still very excited about it! Can't wait to see what people come up with. I think this month will definitely have some interesting stuff,
now i need to figure out what i can make for this theme, haha...

I'm really excited about this one! :D

I can't really create stuff, but I can default, so if anyone wants their creations defaulted, let me know!

Oh, man. i was just thinking yesterday "This (Maxis) dress would be so much more acceptable with some nice Geldyh heels or Amaryll flats". Let's go, Goslings! :D

I didn't vote for this, but it was my next choice after the three I picked, so I'm happy. :D
I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! I actually might try and share something myself this month.

I didn't vote for this either, but I guess this would be the perfect time to do those bed retextures I've promised Needlecream. (I'm just putting it out there so that I have a little more pressure to actually do them this time.)

Quick question - would it be okay to recolor one of the base game meshes that HP edited in her "modesty" set (http://"http://linna.modthesims.info/download.php?t=301758")?

Well, here's my humble contribution to this month's theme  ^_^. I really like the base game male sweater mesh, and I feel like I don't have enough simple sweaters as tops in my game. Sorry if the preview pictures are a bit dark, my screen is super-bright compared to most.

There are six colours in total - you can see them (unedited) here (http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/349/frozensidewalksallj.jpg). The green, beige and dark red are edits of the lovely Pooklet's colour actions. The texture is from CG Textures (http://www.cgtextures.com/), and the mesh is obviously, base game maxis. The files are clearly labelled, so you can delete the ones you don't want. By the way, the 'light grey' colour is the white one, I'm not quite sure how it will look like on your screen. xD

Hope you guys like them ! This is my first attempt at retexturing, so please tell me if you spot anything wrong with these.

Download
Drop.io (http://drop.io/nabila1/asset/nabila-frozensidewalks-rar) (I would've use mediafire or box, but this was the only thing that worked.)

I think I'm going to like this month's theme a lot :) (it was my first choice when voting).

I'm way excited about this theme so I may end up sharing a few things, but here is the first: retextures of that sort of denim-y cf dress.

(Edited to fix link yet again. Sorry, guys!)

Also, should maybe mention some credits:

- Colors are by Crayola (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Crayola_crayon_colors)
- Cloth overlay texture by Aquilegia (http://gardenofshadows.org.uk/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=17820.msg465654#msg465654)
- All other textures are edited Maxis

This theme is brilliant, I love refurbishing old meshes :D Charterzard and Nabila, consider your contributions snagged  :baeh:

I got a couple of things I've been meaning to do for ages, and this proved an excellent incentive - retextures of the cheap basegame beds, the kind those of us who play without cheats find ourselves resorting to when sims are just starting out and are poor...or for college students! Still, just because they're cheap, doesn't mean they can't look decent, so...

Thank you so much everyone! I'm so glad you guys like them, I may have to take another shot at this retexturing thing now.

Charterzard, my goodness, those dresses are absolutely fantastic! I have absolutely no clothing for the kiddies in my game - these are just what I needed.

Ghanima Atreides, I love those! The textures and colours are stellar. Thank you so much for sharing!

15 recolours of the basegame mesh 'cmshirtoverpants'. Because I don't have enough boys' clothes!

I put on some jeans from the Teen Male hoodie from H&M stuff, some chucks and retextured the top.

Thanks so much Ghanima,  Craftmeister is probably one of my favourite beds, these new textures are much welcome.

Thank you! Yep, just for boys because its on a mesh just for child boys. It'd be awsome if you made it unisex, I have no idea how to convert meshes.

Replacing just the texture is incredibly easy, CuriousB. There's a tutorial on it by Aelia, here (http://gardenofshadows.org.uk/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=8328.0).

Thanks for all the wonderful creations so far!

Ferret, I can't believe you made that PJ mesh look good! I *loathed* the originals, so much I always changed my kids out of them when they grew up, but it's amazing what some good textures can do :) Loved the jeans/shirts combos too!

Thank you! Yep, just for boys because its on a mesh just for child boys. It'd be awsome if you made it unisex, I have no idea how to convert meshes.

Toddlers and Children have the same bodies/proportions for either gender, so all you have to do to convert an outfit is to change a flag in the package file.  The most user-friendly way to do this would be with the ticky boxes in WW or SimPE's clothing scanner.

Paprika, this theme is for base game stuff, so everyone can use it. And it's not really base game compatible if it requires celebration stuff pack.

Also, please keep in mind the fact that this theme is not only for bodyshop creations. Base game objects need revamping too!

I'm impressed guys, seriously impressed. I did not even vote for this theme and I've downloaded a lot of the content so far.  The awesome clip art in the project preview picture in the main post inspired you. Totally.Hell yea clipart!

Nabila those are gorgeous. The male basegame meshes are often ignored but they have so much potential, and you really did so well on those. First retexturing?! I've made a folder in my Downloads hoping you will make more!
Chartezard  :thanks: what I like best about those outfits are that the shoes are also decent. The entire outfit is just so cute for kids!
Ghani ;D YAY! I use those beds all the time but dislike the textures so much.. you are amazing! Thank you thank you!!
Ferret no one has enough clothes for the boys! Those are lovely, simple retextures. And I did not have any versions of the kid PJs before so totally snagged :D
Eke those are a cute set and thank you for sharing here! Do you allow (personal) edits of your textures at all? I think the skins I have in game may show builders bums in those bikini bottoms  :-[
Paprika, as the Evanmister said, basegame meshes only! I don't have that stuff pack but those look so cute. I suggest you upload them as a normal upload instead - they are lovely do don't delete them and not repost; people will definitely want to download them. They just aren't on basegame meshes so aren't for this theme.
Stellar who cares if its another bodyshop item, they are lovely! Well I don't care that much; my simkids need more clothes in their wardrobes!

I have a contribution to make. Yes, its bodyshop. Yes its clothes. Woot go me for originality  ;D

A long time ago Bosie made some delicious chinese dresses here on her his blog (http://hapsburgxx.livejournal.com/37698.html). The basegame TS2 came with a Maxis attempt at some chinese dresses - but it was just a Maxis attempt. So they were..odd, and rather fugly. So, I bosiefied them. Texture credit and inspiration goes completely to Bosie. The mesh is the basegame chinese dress (if you can't picture it, the dress comes in two colours - blue and silver - and has a red dragon on the side) called afbodydresschina. I just tweaked the texture to fit better on the mesh and made the shoes more dainty and fit the rest of the outfit. There are 8 recolours in total, all of which are swatched in the preview picture..and I've named the files clearly by colour so you can keep the ones you want. And you know what else? There is also a default option included in the RAR. I have defaulted the darkest blue and silver, to replace the blue and silver originals respectively. To conclude: Bosie's smexy textures, 8 colours, default option, enjoy!

It's actually a radio button, but I'm sure you realized that.  Were you remembering to save after each file?  I've never had any luck doing anything in batches with that program.

(If you open each file in SimPE and change the gender flag in the property set to 0x00000003, it'll also do the job.)

I went ahead and tested myself, just in case there was something hinky going on, so you can save yourself the effort:
Threw em up on mediafire (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?memn32jkhkw) for now.  Let me know when you nabbed 'em and I'll take them off so you can do what you want.  (Based on your naming schemes, you might want to change the set's names to reflect its new unisex properties.)

I'm kind of nervous to share since this is my first time participating in a monthly theme *twiddles thumbs and blushes*. My contribution to this months theme is a few simple recolors of some base game curtains. Forty-two to be exact. Wonder why that is *rolls eyes*. I'm pretty sure it's a base game mesh. If not, let me know and I'll take it down and post it at my DW instead, but I would be surprised if it wasn't so here goes nothing.

These come in all forty-two of Pooklet's colors. Some of them look quite similar because they're so dark, but I figured that I would do them anyways because I know some people have monitors that can tell the difference. They are compressorized for the sake of your download folder's mortality, and are clearly named because I like clear file names >3

ALSO, before I forget, both of these curtains are slaved to the same texture, so there is one package for both curtains! Yay for slaves!

Pooklet - Colors/Actions
Maxis - Textures & Mesh

Eee! More awesome things! I have a feeling my downloads folder is going to absolutely despise me quite soon.
Eke; oh those are so lovely - I adore the colours you've chosen, pastel-ly/soft colours look so adorable on children. Thank you for sharing! Those are definitely snagged.

Ferret; my goodness, I can't choose which I prefer, or which I needed the most. All I can say is YAY! No more fugliness for little boys and girls!

Stellar; I quite loathe the maxis textures on that mesh, but I certainly love those! Thank you so much for sharing.

Nymphy; thank you for the compliment! I do intend to make more, but I'm afraid I'm limited by the fact I only have a touchpad at my disposal. Anyway, those dresses are absolutely fantastic! I love that mesh, but as you said, maxis' attempt at textures kind of fail. I love how the shoes fit in so well with the dresses in your version, and I am definitely taking advantage of your default replacements.

Ja; Snagged! :D I don't even recognise that table, but the splattered ones will definitely brighten up some of my artsy sims' homes, and the clean ones will be perfect almost everywhere. Thank you!

NellSpeed; For your first time, you did a really good job! I failed miserably when I attempted to retexture a chair. The dark blues are my favourite. ^^

Romantic Roulette; CURTAINS! I love you so much right now, I was just wishing I had more curtains the other day. Pooklet's colours look brilliant on these, they will be much abused in my game. Thank you!

I have an idea for this theme, but I'm not sure it's permitted. The first post mentions putting new shoes on old meshes; does that mean we're also allowed to stick basegame textures with potential on meshes that aren't so terrible?

Title: Re: GoS July Project - Back to Basics!
Post by: Nymphy on July 06, 2010, 04:06:20 PM
As long as those meshes were basegame Ruroni. The idea is to improve the basegame meshes by means of recolouring, retexturing, editing the mesh itself (giving it new shoes!).

I've had a couple ideas for this month's theme, but as to how many will get finished remains to be seen.

First, I have recoloured the base game child dungarees mesh to dark denim dungarees and 45 variations on the t-shirt in Aelia's retro colours and Pooklet's unnaturals, along with a black, white and a brown. I loved mine when I was a kid, so these were a blast from the past ;D. The files say CF and female is pictured, but they should be unisex, male pictures to follow. If they aren't showing for both, please feel free to kick me up the backside to fix them.

Download here (http://www.mediafire.com/?mjvr4zwgidm)
Please note if you are keeping one set but not the other, the black recolour is in the Pookleted folder as "Dynamite" and the white colour is in the Aelia folder. It made sense at the time.

Hey guys,

it seems I have not posted anything here in ages. However, I love this month's theme and really tried thinking up something which fits here. I feel a little shy about my little offering, as so many of you have posted such nice things already, but I hope some of you might like it.  :-[

So, after my game problems I had to do a reinstall and reorganize my downloads, and suddenly I remembered this beautiful dress iliketoplaygod made for a challenge here on GOS. I went to get it and since it only comes in one colour, I made some more... 5, to be exact.

I take no credit for these, really. It was a little harder than just pushing some buttons, and fiddling with the alpha/ texture of the shoes, but the textures are all the work of iliketoplaygod, so she is the creative/awesome one here.  ^_^
Included, but not pictured, is an edit of her original colour, as I wanted those little changes on there, too.

So much of what has been made so far looks so great. I love all the children's clothes!

Amaryll - Those little dresses are just too lovely. I'll find them exceptionally useful, to say the least.
Captain - Be still my heart! Wee lil overalls in a vast array of colors? Yes! Yes!

Eke - love the swimsuits

Stellar - Thanks for sprucing up that mesh. It was one of my favorite kid meshes.

Nymphy - Stunning dresses. I've always liked those cheongsams and one of those recolors actually looks like one I own.

Ja - I can never have enough tables. Love the recolors.

Nellspeed - I didn't have enough recolors for the Zecutime sofas. Those colors will work beautifullly for me.

Romantic Roulette -Great job!

Julie J - I love those recolors and I especially appreciate them on the sexyfeet mesh.

Dustin - I use the numica table alot and those recolors are very nice.

Captain Obvious - I was going to use a default replacement for that mesh. Now I'm glad I didn't. Very nice!

Amaryll - I needed a nice recolor of that mesh. Thanks!

Another little something, this time a little more original.  ;)

I changed the shoes on this BG outfit, cleaned up the top texture a bit and added some knit overlay, and used some H&M jeans for the pants. And I made way too many recolours...

Alrighty, the first bed on my list is done. It is the 'Colonial Ironwood Bed'.

I retextured it in two different textures, 25 colours each. Some colours are by Pooklet, some by Aelia, and I added a white.

All Colors (http://i26.tinypic.com/b6cak5.jpg)

They come in 7 different colors with both a striped and plain version. They should be labelled clearly so you can take out the ones you don't want.
The mesh looks like this (http://i30.tinypic.com/ajqx68.jpg) so if you have any defaults that change that mesh, you have to take them out in order for these
to show up properly. Enjoy!

I love most of the stuff posted, especially the objects. Thank you all for those!

I know this is pretty old, and some of you may already have it, so I'm posting this here for those who haven't downloaded it yet! 7 recolours of Maxis phone(Sim Line? I really don't know the English name of it). You can use design tool to mix the colours.

Well and floors are actually base game compatible, so uploading it here would make sense, right?

I finished mine.   :-[ I guess these are the first walls! Both walls are from the basegame anyway, as far as I know.

"Back to Heaven" are handpaint recolors of Maxis screen paneling in two flavors: The cloud-painted version (above) and the watercolor version (below):

All of the cloud-painted walls are tileable with their own colours. There's 3 blue, 3 yellow, and one intermission colour (blue AND yellow) for putting in-between a yellow and blue if you want to use both on a wall at the same time!
The watercolor walls have 1 of each colour shown above.
You can tile them with one panel, but I wouldn't recommend it. Mix and match them so that it doesn't all look the same-- but unlike a mural, you can place them in any order you want (except the cloud intermission colour).

"Than Lightning Be" are Aelia'd recolors of the quoining on the Maxis London White Bricks-- I don't have a preview of the colours because I'm a dumbass and forgot, but trust me that there is one of each colour. The only colours in Aelia's colour actions that were omitted were some of them that, when coloured, turned out exactly the same. They were just redundant.

Everything comes in one RAR file, but every different wall type (Bricks, cloud screens, watercolor screens) are in seperate folders just in case you only want one or two.
Thank you to Aelia for the colour actions used on Than Lightning Be.

I'm really loving what everyone's done so far!  :zip:

I ended up doing a bit of a mesh edit (first time!), and added Amaryll's flats to the basegame sundress. I made a minor attempt at retexturing, but I don't feel I've got the hang of it yet, so I only included two retextures and the rest of the textures are from the original dress.

Herman - Those look great, especially for you first try :)

I made more clothes, this time they are for your little girls!

All Colors (http://i29.tinypic.com/2ykz6rq.jpg)

They come in Aelia's and all of Pooklet's unnatural colors. They should be labelled clearly so you can take out the ones you don't want.
The mesh looks like this (http://i25.tinypic.com/o9rd7b.jpg) so if you have any defaults that change that mesh, you have to take them out in order for these
to show up properly. Enjoy!

Meringue, that sofa bed looks really pretty! The sofa is, like others have said, from the basegame and the recolors work fine - but unfortunately, the sofa bed mesh keeps crashing my game. (The game launcher gets stuck on a loop while it is reading files, before it gets to the neighbourhood choosing screen. This happens even when there is no other custom content or hacks in the game.) I have University and Nightlife, and no idea why this is happening :/ I just recently installed University, which caused some problems with getting custom content to show up, but that's solved now and other custom objects work fine.

Trapping, what nice textures! Those t-shirts will get much use in my game :)

Pixelcat, I downloaded Shooting Stars, because the dresses look absolutely great, but the subfolder labeled Aelia's Colors seems to be completely empty. Perhaps you forgot to upload them? Or perhaps something went wrong with my download?

I feel like an ungrateful brat because only problems prompted me to comment... But regardless, the stuff in this thread is awesome - thank you everyone!

Golly, I'm really embarrassed now. :-[ I've been using them and they work fine for me. I have all EPs and some stuff packs, though. I'm not sure what causes the problem or how I'd fix it. Anyone else had this problem? If other people are having this issue I could start from scratch to make sure I didn't mess some step up in the process. Anyone else having the crashing issues?
I'm so, so sorry for the inconvenience. :wah:

Alright, this was the most complicated retexture I've ever done, since I ended up hand painting the shading and mutilating the textures to hell and back to makes them work. But anyway, these are four retextures of that basegame dress Lillith wears. I've always loved the mesh, the textures... no. They looked plastic-y and tacky.

So, I made new ones!

 [coffin kickers]  (http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii296/Blood_and_Eyeliner/FeedMyFrankenstein.jpg)

The top texture was originally HystericalParoxysm's, the shading on the skirt came from one of Sentate's outfits, the texture on the skirt from CG textures though I've edited that very heavily myself, the patterns were from DinPattern and Colourlovers, the mesh and the rest of the textures are by Maxis. I didn't change the choker, bracelet or strap texture because the latter refused to be co-operative, and in the end I decided that they didn't look too bad anyway. Everything was named after Alice Cooper songs.

I have some more things for you.

Remember Trapping's lovely painted walls a page or two back? Well I talked to her and she said I could make more colours.

Mine are a lot brighter (girly, you might say) but they use the same textures. I hope you can find some use for them.  :-[

OH AND BY THE WAY there's some more walls (bathroom tiled walls, to be specific) that fit with these bright colours-- but do not fit with the Monthly project as they're not Maxis recolors-- at my Dreamwidth. They come in nineteen colours. You can find them here http://casiotone.dreamwidth.org/5519.html

After discovering so much on this site to overload my downloads folder I've finally been able to give something back.  Having lurked through the "Cover Art" thread here I found some covers I thought would make great posters.  I don't think they came out too badly and have decided to share them.  They are a recolor of the base-game "Civic Idol" poster.

So I've downloaded nearly everything from this thread already.

As for me, I'm apparently much less picky about the base game clothes as they are: a lot of them have potential, in my opinion! Of course, Maxis has to completely wreck it in some way or another, but I'm not VIOLENTLY disgusted by much of it.... So in that spirit (and hopefully in what is not a gross misinterpretation of this theme, although if so just tell me and I'll take these elsewhere), I present this!

Inspired by doing Maxis Makeovers in Strangetown, and realizing that, for my tastes, nothing quite captured Lazlo's personality like that Discount Hippie shirt, but the pants were awful. (And then realizing the exact same thing about Nervous Subject later, which is why their shirts are named for them.)

Action shots!
1 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/RurouniIdoru/liberation2.jpg), 2 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/RurouniIdoru/liberation3.jpg), 3 (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/RurouniIdoru/liberation4.jpg)
Swatches of all ten! (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v326/RurouniIdoru/preview.jpg)

These require ang41187's mesh at MTS (http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=270416) (which I tried in vain to give a pregmorph, but alpha layers elude my novice skills). All recolors are (hopefully) labeled clearly enough that you can throw any you hate into the trash bin without booting up Bodyshop.

Rurouni-Idoru - I have ang4117's mesh and will certainly use these. They are basic enough for me; now these shirts can be used as separates. Win!

Okie dokie. Since I've downloaded a bunch of stuff from this thread, I thought that I should get my backside into gear and contribute something. And thus here are 14 recolours of the 'Coming Up Roses' sofa. You know, that one that looks like it might have a good home in a retirement village because of the fabric choices. So, I put some new denim-texture slip covers on them and now they're ready for student residences, first homes, or low-budget accommodation. Or something like that.

Pictured: Original, white, light blue, teal, dark green.

The colours (and file names) are: dark green, dark purple, green, grey, hot pink, light blue, orange, pink, purple, red, royal blue, teal, white & yellow.

The colours are slightly more washed out than I had originally intended but the tetxture got too dark and slightly odd looking if I changed them. Which is why the red is more of a salmon than a fire engine.

DOWNLOAD ZIP (http://www.mediafire.com/?nirx4qxyncbg4c6) version - DOWNLOAD RAR (http://www.mediafire.com/?o3434n66txlnup2) version

Please note: jumping vigorously on this sofa is not recommended. Possible injuries include broken bones, being poked by springs and severely damage pride. Durability, comfort & colour-fading are not covered by the warranty. Any future damage or wear to the sofa is the responsibility of the Sim using it.

Wow....I may have a new favourite theme - I've grabbed almost everything so far!  I've also come back bearing sofas for your cheapskate sims  ;D

I like these sofas for several reasons - they're cheap, the meshes are decent looking, and the Satinistics loveseat was only a retexture away from looking almost exactly like my real-life sofa. Heh. The textures however...left a lot to be desired, probably among the ugliest textures in the game.

But, no more!

Want more patterns/Pooklet/Aelia/etc?  Grab the base textures (.psd) for both sofas here (http://www.box.net/shared/6ek1o8fh6k) and here (http://www.box.net/shared/xmsp1mgd0g), and make your own. They were a pain to make though, so all I ask is to mention my name somewhere.  :cthulhu:

Enjoy!

Tellemonstar, Ghanima, thank you so much! I may end up Pookleting or Aelia-ing (is that a verb?) some of those sofas, so thanks for the textures and (Ghanima) especially those PSDs.

Metatwaddle: I think if 'Pooklet' is fair game then we should definitely verb 'Aelia' as well. Ha.

I second Meta's thanks. (And thanks to the rest of the creators as well. Sorry Pretties, this is a three in the morning tired as heck, nameless and unspecific thanks. Everything looks lovely though.)

I've finally managed to actually make something for the theme. :P Five shrubs recolours, including one default(because it was not recolourable). Because I hate maxis green on plants. Are compressed.

I went for retro textures to be a bit different, and the textures I used are from kaputt-geliebt's livejournal (http://kaputt-geliebt.livejournal.com/) and various other sources around the internet.

I'm loving this theme! When it was first announced, I thought "Base game recolors? Meh." But what I've seen so far has been awesome!  :cheer: Thanks for creating, everyone. This theme has been especially great since I've had to start over and I'm trying not to download too many new meshes.

I made a contribution - hope it's not too mainstream, though.

Swatches (http://i339.photobucket.com/albums/n452/untidyfan/TS2%20Forums/fruitfulkitchencolors.jpg)

These are recolors of the Dialectric ReadyPrep Range, "BrandName" EconoCool Refrigerator, Stewart Mourning Cafe Curtains, OakTowne East Side Dining Chair, Krampft Industries Value Counter, and the NuMica AllInAll Card Table. Curtains, chair cushions, and the tabletop are available in the prints on the left side of the swatch. The appliances and counter cabinets come in the colors depicted on the right side. There are two separate recolors for the countertops, black and white. Counters and stoves have dirty states that, in my opinion, look pretty good.

Hope you all like it!

SkyWookiee, evanesco, untidyfan - those are all lovely! I've never used that Maxis couch before, but I probably will now with those wonderful patterns. evanesco, I don't usually like grunge, but I like grungy recolors for those run-down community lots I like to build. untidyfan - I don't think your recolors are too mainstream, since many people here love bright colors and patterns. Thank you!

I think this is one of the best monthly projects, next to the Defaults theme. :D

Wow, untidyfan, I love it! I know those recolors will get plenty of use in my game.
evanesco, the phones look great--I like the retro feel of the color combinations.

This monthly theme inspired me to learn how to do object recolors. :D I've started very simply with curtain recolors for the ComboCleen shower-bath, the expensive one that comes with basegame. Because I hate it when sims take forever to clean themselves, I use this shower almost exclusively once my sims have enough money, but there are never enough curtain options! I have some really cute patterns from Immortality at MtS (http://www.modthesims.info/member.php?u=928580), but patterns are sometimes out of place; I wanted some some solid colors.

Untidyfan, those look so pretty! You recoloured some of my favourite meshes ever and I love the patterns you picked! Thank you so much for sharing!
Columnar, you had an awesome idea recolouring the curtain of that bath, it looks beautiful and definitely usable, now! Thank you!
Evanesco, coloured and grungy recolours of the maxis phonebooth? Yay! Those are awesome, thank you!
SkyWookie, lovely! I have always liked that mesh but now I love it! Thanks!

Columnar - that recolour is exactly what I needed! Thanks! (grabbed your patterns too!)

Untidyfan - I love the sets, I cannot wait to put them in my game

SkyWookie - I love them. I wish I could have them in real life. I use that couch in game a lot, so it will be nice to have some variety.

untidyfan, I especially like the table recolours - I love the cheery, bright patterns you used!

Yes, yes, yes to a shabby black 'phone booth - thanks, evanesco!

Thanks to everybody for their kind feedback! I'm glad people are enjoying my creations. And thanks again to everyone else who made things for this theme. These have been such helpful & pretty recolors. Kinda wish this theme could extend for another month. At least we get thirty-one days this month!

Everything here is just awesome. I downloaded basically everything, so as a thanks for those who uploaded and are planning to upload, I bring you this:

I really wanted to contribute, but can't recolor worth a crap, so I chose something really simple and hopefully inspire people that they too can create custom content. The Harry Potter type glasses were recolored to the color palette seen here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Crayola_crayon_colors#Metallic_FX). They're not very "alternative" but they look nice and are very wearable. All labeled so you can delete the ones you don't want.

Preview shot of Gold Fusion (http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/jsdar9/GoldFusion.png)
And a color swatch (http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t112/jsdar9/colorpalette.png) for easier viewing (they go in order of the wiki page).

I hope they work for everyone!

Skywookie--I love those sofa recolors. I risk asking the stupid question of the day, but does it work to keep just sofa or cushions of a certain recolor, for the sake of space? If I want the pillows but not the sofa of a recolor, for instance, do I just keep the cushion recolors of "Creative Lover," for example, or do I need to keep the CreativeLover.package as well?  Thanks!

I am straight-up LOVING this theme! All of the object recolors are fantastic, and are already receiving a ton of abuse in my game. I finally figured out what to make and finished my contribution for this project. I bring you more button pushing recolors for ultimate kitchen co-ordination!

I made a bunch of recolors of the Tea Party in Teak chair and NuMica Allinall Card Table. I use these two objects quite a bit but I wanted more recolors so they'd match the rest of my kitchens. (god, I love building kitchens)

The chairs come in all of Pooklet's colors, except for the 3 bomb shades, and all of Aelia's colors. The tabletops come in all of Pooklet and Aelia's colors.

Files have been compressorized and are clearly named with the colors. Obviously, you don't need any expansions or meshes for these. Thanks to Pooklet and Aelia for the color actions. Title is from the track "Can't Sit Still" by Revolting Cocks. Enjoy!

Wow, my download folder is straining at the seams.
Although this might have been a better thing to contribute at the beginning of the month, I figure better late than never.
I went ahead and made a batch of unHiders for all of the basegame outfits for adults and teens.
They will show up in Bodyshop (so you can recolour the meshes) as well as CAS
Female:
(http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/6524/femalem.th.jpg) (http://img85.imageshack.us/i/femalem.jpg/)
Male:
(http://img138.imageshack.us/img138/2332/malev.th.jpg) (http://img138.imageshack.us/i/malev.jpg/)

Now I know, most- if not all - of these have been unlocked over the last 6 years, but it wouldn't hurt to have them all in one place,
The zip contains 3 subfolders (Female, Male, Teen) and all the packages use the original filenames, so picking and choosing should be easy.

IMPORTANT: If you decide you don't want an item unlocked anymore, DO NOT DELETE FROM CAS or BODYSHOP!
Delete from your downloads or subfolder.

I found myself playing the game again recently (shock and awe!) and I needed a bunch of things for my simmies, some of which being the stuff I'm sharing below. A lot of it is architectural, but I also did some bathroom meshes. (I also have some clothing recolors, but I'm not sure I'm going to get the previews done in time for this.) I've had these done since early in the month, but my computer ate my first batch of screencaps and that ruined my mood for a while.

Here is a really ugly mash-up of the previews for the Coffin Kickers:

I'm really, really hoping I didn't recreate something somebody (off site) has already done, and that this post is ok. I didn't want it to be huge and long, so all the big previews are behind links. Hope that's ok, and that somebody can use something of this . :)  I've really enjoyed everybody else's creations this month! This is a great, great theme. So many goodies!

I just want to thank everyone that participated this month. Now that my game is working again I'll have to go back through and grab everything. :inlove:

I ended up making a simple recolour & retexture, for the girls undies, of the base game children's underwear with Aelia's Retro Actions and Pooklet's Actions. I might go and do the newer Aelia colours (yes, I am completely out of my mind), but I probably won't get them finished before the end of this month.

This is my third and last contribution to this theme. It's not much - just an edited maxis table and some AM underwear.

Table:

It's a new mesh that is repositoried to the original Maxis table (see picture). This means that it pulls it's texture from the original table - including any recolors you might have of it.
Huge thanks to Ja for teaching me how to make objects and how to make them repositoried 8)

And huzzah, repositoried!

I bring you... MOAR COUCHES! You can fit them into your downloads folder somehow! :zip:

This is pretty much what it says on the tin. You know the colors, you know the mesh, and you probably know that Ghanima rescued it from bad texture hell earlier this month. Her recolors were what allowed me to do this! They come in Aelia's retro colors and Pooklet's unnaturals, including Time Bomb. Only one of the colors--Aelia's Sage--has been tweaked a tiny bit for lower contrast.

CREDITS
Ghanima Atreides for the original recolor
Aelia and Pooklet for the colors

TOU
You're kidding, right? All I did was press buttons. Just honor the TOUs of Ghanima, Aelia and Pooklet, who actually did the work here.

IT'S NOT BORKED, I SWEAR
In my preview pictures, the back of the couch clipped into the black background, so it looks kind of silly and possibly physics-defying on the bottom. Don't worry--that won't happen in your game! The mesh looks perfectly normal--I was just stupid with the way I positioned the couch. Ghanima has a better picture (http://ist1-4.filesor.com/pimpandhost.com/3/7/2/9/37294/h/J/9/s/hJ9s/FutonesqueSofasPlain.jpg) of the full couch and wood texture.

BLAH BLAH BLAH
The name of this set was inspired by Paul and Storm's "Opening Band". I always pictured the band crashing on this kind of couch when they stay at their cousin's place, although the cousin probably has a grubby, faded old couch instead of eye-bleeding neon or cheery pastels. You can listen to the song and read the lyrics here (http://www.paulandstorm.com/lyrics/opening-band/). Go listen--it's a hilarious song.

Trapping, hooray for more AM underwear options!  My guys needed more simple briefs.

Trapping - I love to use the "tighty whities" but hate they are only white.  Thank you so much for more colors!

Metatwaddle - I'll make room because you can never have too many maxis recolors.  Great work, thank you!

I have a few simple offerings for this month's theme. It's my first upload here, so please let me know if I'm doing anything wrong. :D

First up is a simple retexture of the basegame sweaters. You know, the ones ALL the way way in the back.

All I did was manipulate the alpha and textures to look like tight-fitting cardigans. Then I applied Aelia's retro color actions.

Next up are four pairs of cargo pants with sandals. Mesh is included and is by Sentate. Textures on the sandals belong to her as well.

I used the basegame texture, but I lowered the waist and got rid of the belt. I also recolored them with more varied options.

I hope you guys enjoy!

I just wanted to pop in and say I thought I wouldn't download anything from this month's theme due to my prejudice against Maxis' mostly fail meshes. Boy, I was surely wrong. Thank you, I downloaded pretty much everything posted here, I'm so happy I was proven wrong! :D

I was going to have another contribution for this month's theme, but my computer has been going through a type of crisis for the past few weeks and so I don't think I'm going to be able to do it time.

I would like to thank all of the people who gave me such nice compliments on my entry, as simple as it was >w<

Also thanks to all of the creators! You're contributions were absolutely wonderful and I'm pretty sure most of them have found a home in my downloads folder.

I've loved everything in this thread so far! What an amazing collection of cc!

After downloading so many things over the years, I thought it was high time I got off my ass and gave back to the Garden, so here's my very first contribution. It's not much, but it did involve a LOT of clicking!

Everything is in folders and clearly labelled with the colour names, so you can easily delete what you don't want to keep. All the files have been compressorized (and are tiny, anyway).

Thank you to Aeliaa for all these gorgeous new colours. What an embarrassment of riches! And a shout out to my models: the aged-down Faith and Herb Goodie. Thanks also to Dr. Suess, for inspiring the silly title.

Happy simming!

Thanks, everyone, for everything - it's been an incredible month and I've downloaded nearly everything.

I only remembered today that I had an idea earlier this month for something I wanted to contribute, but then realized it was the last day of July. Hey ho, I guess I'll just have to make them and randomly release them some time in the near future. :haha:

Thanks to everyone who contributed this month. I have downloaded just about everything and, thanks to your creative genius and kindness, my game will be that much more enjoyable. I hate to see this end, too. However, I look forward to next months goodies.

Kudos everyone. This month's theme was so full of win!

My basegame recolors folder is now filled to bursting with everyone's contributions for this month. I honestly think this theme has the most stuff I've downloaded yet, everything posted is so fantastic and useful.
Thanks to everyone for all the awesome stuff! :D

I'm a little sad that this month is over. I downloaded almost everything! This was the best theme since Default Revamp in my opinion.

This has been a really good theme and thank you everyone who took the time to make something! This theme is now over and about to land in the TARDIS section, but I would like to point out that if you wish to make more items based on this theme, then please upload them to the appropriate normal parts of the forum! :D

I know it's been months, but I finally found where I squirreled these away on my computer. I checked and RenK's link is still broken, so get them here. (http://www.mediafire.com/?pnpx5bsvfabfdcc)

Anyone happen to have a working link of Javiera's recolors of the Simple Structure coffee table?  It's been deleted and it's also not on her LJ/DW.

The links for Nabilia (base game male sweater - http://gardenofshadows.org.uk/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=19069.msg492316#msg492316) and NellSpeed (Zecutime loveseat recolors - http://gardenofshadows.org.uk/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=19069.msg493115#msg493115) are no longer working.

If anyone has the files or working links, I'd really appreciate it! Or to let me know if I'm able to just contact them directly.
Thank you!
